2023 Executive Board

Michelle Frauley, President

Michelle has over 3 decades of nursing experience, including: family medicine, palliative and end-of-life care, women’s health, complex long-term care, operating room, and community nursing. Her experience has taught her that providing quality healthcare is built from a foundation of care and compassion.

Michelle is committed and caring, someone whose attention to detail fuels her passion and success. In 2016, she received an award from the International Nurses Association as a Worldwide Leader in Healthcare for her overall achievements with Hospall and in her prior position at King City Medical Associates. She is highly respected by patients and colleagues and has been nominated 3 times for the Toronto Star Florence Nightingale Award for Ontario nurses.

Michelle lives and owns her private homecare business in King City. She finds contentment in the relationships that she has built, and the ability to nurse in ways she could have never imagined. Michelle has been on the King Chamber Board for over 4 years and in 2021 was elected to the executive board as the acting Treasurer and in 2022 became the Vice President.

Michelle founded Hospall Private Homecare in 2013 with the belief that she could lead an amazing group of caregivers in building something remarkable for residents of King and surrounding areas. Michelle has experience showing that interactive caregiving is a method of caring for seniors that promotes physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being.

Her group of caregivers share in Hospall’s vision and mission. They believe that trust and compassion are integral components in hiring a care provider. The Hospall team that she has built provides caring, dependable assistance and reliability 24 hours a day. Their objective never changes providing the highest degree of care to all patients and the utmost focus on quality of life for all. Michelle looks forward to meeting you and making a difference in you and your loved ones’ lives.<

Gus Kokkoros, Vice President

Gus joins the Executive Board of Directors after being voted in by his peers on March 1, 2023.

Gus brings many years of leadership experience and new ideas to the King Chamber.

Theresa Sherwood, Treasurer

Theresa Sherwood is the curator of the family farm where she grew up in the 60s. Sherwood Farm Retreat is a 70 acre, picturesque rural property here in King Township. Originally a thoroughbred race farm, the rustic hayloft, Georgian home and lovely grounds provide a country setting for a variety of gatherings.  The retreat concept first evolved from having hosted family business group retreats at the farm during the 90s.

Since 2016, Sherwood Farm has evolved into a serene private event venue and retreat where wellness is the focus with reflection, renewal and revitalization. Optimal clientele are specialists, facilitators and practitioners who coordinate small group retreats such as yoga, art, health and wellness and so forth. During the pandemic, Theresa welcomed families and practitioners to conduct small safe outdoor events where everyone was welcome. The venue also hosts an annual “Handcrafted Gift Sale” in November to support local artisans and the community.

Savita Despot, Secretary

Savita Despot lives, works and plays in King with her family and looks to deepen community involvement in the township. She has over 18 years of experience working with TD Bank Group in various capacities, including being a key contact for regulators in Canada, US, UK and Singapore and supporting TD Securities – the wholesale investment and financial services arm of the bank. Her driven approach has led her to work on high profile and high risk projects, critical regulatory consulting and reporting, and negotiating multi-million dollar contracts with the likes of Bloomberg, IBM, Thomson Reuters and more. Her strong program and relationship building skills coupled with her ability to move things forward in an effective and efficient manner while growing services has helped her take the leap into opening her own business.

Savita is the Co-Founder and Director of The Blue Marble Academy which has two main branches – Tutoring and ESG Consulting.  The business has been built on sustainability, with a focus on educating the next generation about environmental and social issues we face today. The Blue Marble Academy provides tutoring for students from kindergarten to grade 12 in all subjects, with a specialization in Reading/English, French and Math. It also offers Coding workshops in Roblox and Minecraft for all levels and engaging STEAM-based summer camps. The Blue Marble Academy also provides consulting on ESG reporting and disclosure referencing global frameworks/standards such as SASB, GRI, TCFD, GRESB and more. Services also include consulting and advice on meeting financial regulatory requirements including Basel II and III, MIFID II.

As one of the newest members of the King Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Savita strives to support other small businesses in the Township of King by showcasing their products/services and collaborating with them on various initiatives. Her passion is to bring a new approach to supporting students in education, especially after the devastating impacts of COVID-19, and to help nurture and prepare these future leaders with the skills and critical thinking capabilities they need to succeed.

Molly Robins

Molly Robins is a nutritionist and owner of Molly’s Market, a healthy grocer that focuses on providing customers with better-for-you baked goods, pantry staples, gifts, gluten-free products and more. Molly has been a resident of King for 12 years and has lived her entire life in York Region. She has a BAH from Queen’s University and is a Certified Nutritionist from the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. When she isn’t working, she loves spending time with her big family and playing with her nieces and nephews.

Lisa Iafrate

Lisa Gattoni Iafrate has lived in the rolling hills of King Township for 27 years.  A King City resident, single Mom to beautiful, 23 year old, Talia. Talia was born and raised in King  and has attended King Township programs since she was 18 months old.  Social clubs, brownies, sports teams, camps, and the schools in King. From pre school King City co-op Nursery School to present day Seneca College King campus.   You just can’t get this girl out of King.

Lisa has been on many boards during this time contributing to our community. The nursery school, King Soccer club,PTA, Christmas in King, she is presently a member of the Catholics women’s league, an active member of The Seneca College Women’s Giving circle. She recently received and accepted an Invitation to join the King Chamber of commerce as a board member.

You may know her as the CEO of her company TaLiitowels, affectionately named after her daughter. In 2015 she took TaLiitowels to the hit CBC show Dragons Den and received 2 offers. She has been on every morning show in Toronto with her product.

An enthusiastic entrepreneur that executes 100 consumer trade shows, fairs, and festivals per year in Ontario, Vancouver and Calgary and three major boat shows in Florida. “ We are proud to say we use a portion of our revenues gained nationally to give back to those charities that need in King Township.”

Taliitowels pivoted their business in March to make masks that are getting rave reviews from the universities.  They manufactured masks for all three King fire stations and the Township Staff as well.

Brent King

Brent has 45 years VP Industrial and Commercial taxation and cost consulting experience across North America dealing with mining, forestry, automotive production, data centres, airports, and port facilities.

He has extensive involvement with volunteer groups, various Board of Directors, and services with the Township of King, including the Mayor’s Task Force, Sustainability Committee, Finance Pillar Ambassador, member of Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC), Committe of Adjustment, Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) with Planning, and was an advisor on Township build projects such as new Township Offices and Recreation Complex.

Karen Dubeau

Karen is an experienced entrepreneur and change agent, having founded a successful Ottawa technology firm.  She has been a passionate advocate for women in sciences, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), working with youth and women’s organizations to promote careers for women in those fields. She is a Mentor with the HELIX entrepreneurship program at Seneca College, working with select start- ups on their funding and scaling strategies.  Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the province of Ontario, Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. 

Ryan Raymond

 Ryan and his family have lived in King since 2010. He is the owner of SURGE Activewear, which produces custom running gear for all walks of life – from your local track club to nationally recognized marathons & internationally competitive teams. SURGE focuses on performance – with designed lightweight fabrics, engineered details, & custom digital sublimation prints resulting in unique looking team wear that will get you noticed on & off the track.

Ryan is excited to grow the King Chamber Membership as Chair of the Membership Committee and continue to support local business.

Darryn Wilbur

 

Darryn and his family have lived in King township since 2008. He has been actively working with the township council to move and grow his 25 year car business to King since 2012. His passion for the community and excitement to bring more businesses to King has led him to join the board of directors.

Jay Willmot

 

Jay is the President at Kinghaven Farms, a family-run business since 1974 known widely for its legacy in Ontario Horse Racing. Under Jay’s leadership, the farm has begun expanding its business into multiple areas including renewable energy, apiculture, egg farming, woodlot management, and more.

 

Even before taking the reins as Kinghaven’s president, Jay was already working towards his vision for the farm. He bought the first hive in 2012 and quickly started learning about the wonderful world of beekeeping. Now, that hobby has grown into an important part of both the business and vision of how to best honour and support this land for generations to come.

Joe Rosati

 

Joe and his family have lived in Schomberg since 2013. 

Joe is a commercial real estate Salesperson specializing in warehouses, distribution centres, manufacturing, and food processing properties throughout the GTA.  

Angelo Santorelli, Past President

Angelo Santorelli is a long time resident and business owner in the beautiful Township of King, living with his family in the Pottageville area for the past 40 years.  Angelo is the proud owner and President of Trisan Construction, a company which operates out of and serves the community of Schomberg, Ontario.  Being located in King, Trisan employs many local residents from the surrounding areas and also presents multiple opportunities for work and growth in the construction industry.   Trisan Construction was also honoured to receive the Excellence in Large Business award by the King Chamber of Commerce in the fall of 2017.  In 2011, Angelo and his family had the unique opportunity to be a part in supporting and naming of Schomberg’s community recreation centre, the Trisan Centre.

Angelo has been a member of the King Chamber of Commerce for over 10 years, as well as participating in the Township’s Sustainability Advisory Committee and serving on the board of the Toronto Area Road Builders Association for 3 years.  Moving forward as President of the King Chamber of Commerce, Angelo hopes to encourage businesses, both small and large, to plant, grow and flourish in King.  He would like to bring businesses together and get involved in creating a stronger and even better community.  In doing this, Angelo’s goal is to promote both our Chamber, as well as the Municipality, for the benefit of local business and all who live and seek to thrive in our Township.
